About the Author

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (1889–1965), was the Second Khalifah of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. He was the son of the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him, and his birth was the fulfilment of the prophecy concerning the appearance of a Promised Reformer—Musleh Maud. This prophecy was published by the Promised Messiah as a sign of the truth of Islam.

He was a great and gifted scholar, possessing the heights of both secular and spiritual knowledge, and he had developed a deep love for the Holy Quran. He was a renowned scholar and prolific author, who penned dozens of books. His writings are revered as a treasure trove by the Muslim world. Likewise, he was an orator of unmatched eloquence, captivating his audiences for hours on end.

In 1914, at the age of 25, he was elected as Khalifatul-Masih II.

During his almost fifty-two years of Khilafat, he led the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community on an international level, continuing the mission of the Promised Messiah, expanding the Community to fourty-six countries, and building dozens of hospitals and schools. He initiated various campaigns to further the propagation of Islam and the cause of peace.

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad gave the Community its current organisational and administrative structure. He established the auxiliary organisations for men, women, and children, thus, he is the founder of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, which he created in 1938.

He passed away on 8 November 1965 in Rabwah, Pakistan. He was succeeded by Hazrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad who became Khalifatul-Masih III.

“That light of high degree that was bestowed on perfect man was not in angels, was not in stars, was not in the moon, was not in the sun, was not in the oceans and the rivers, was not in rubies, emeralds, sapphires, or pearls; in short, it was not in any earthly or heavenly object. It was only in perfect man whose highest and loftiest and most perfect example was our lord and master, the Chief of the Prophets, the Chief of all living ones, Muhammad, the chosen one, peace and blessings of Allah be on him.”

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad – The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him)
